After earning his invite to the series by clinching the 2003 NASCAR Cup Series championship, Kenseth started the 2004 IROC season by finishing third in the Daytona opener. He would collect wins in the season's final two IROC events at Richmond and Atlanta on his way to the 2004 IROC championship.
